A Question of Choice

Stupid, when two beautiful events take place on the same day. Stupid, when the weather is fickle and you really can´t plan anything. Now what concerns the events, it was mainly me, who could not decide. To select the Drift Challenge was in the context of High Performance Days at the Hockenheimring or the Japan Day in Düsseldorf. So I wanted to get a second opinion. Using Youtube I showed Lyra videos of the said events. Then she decided to Drift Challenge. That means Japan Day in 2014. :-)

 

Let´s go to Hockenheim

When I woke up, I realized that outside the sun laughed. Apostle Peter is clearly a car fan. But I wanted it this time more relaxed approach than last year. The departure I have scheduled for 9:30, so that we reached comfortably around 11:00 clock in Hockenheim. Surprisingly, the large main parking lot near the north curve was relatively empty. We packed our bags and made ​​our way towards the checkout.

Then we went straight to the paddock. There awaited us the creme de la creme of luxury vehicles on four wheels. Lyra was blown away. Everything with Rank and Name was represented:

Mercedes-Benz, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin and so on...

Welcome in Hockenheim

After this first impression it was time for a snack. So we headed towards the grandstand Sachskurve and looked for shady places. On the track the Tuner Grand Prix took place at this time. A very boring and tiring event, give in about 8 Vehicles in a group of the same category on the small track to a race. About an hour later, two friends of mine came over, Uwe and Melanie Wolff with her ​​sweet daughter Aria. We moved to a sunny spot and waited for the start of the Drift Challenge.

 

Drift Challenge

At 13:00 it was ready and the first Drifter came onto the track. Lyra looked intently. The Challenge began with the individual runs without judgment, where the individual Drifter presented their vehicles.

Then we went to the TunerGP up by about 15:00 clock. Then it started again with the drifting and this time with rating. The task for the Drifter was, as early as possible to begin the drift and pull it as long as possible. There were then notes. The top four were following in a jump-off and from this the winner was then found by applause.

After this, we headed to go home. We did not stay until shortly before 17:00 clock, where the drift show should take place. In this show up to four vehicles used simultaneously in the Sachskurve and drift close and parallel to each other. Nice to look at, but too late for us.
